Dear ACTC Members,
The ACTC Board of Directors worked for over a year on new bylaws for the Association for Core Texts and Courses. The old bylaws were adopted in 1996 at the association's second annual meeting. At that time ACTC was a small organization with a grand vision but little institutional experience or outreach. In 2008 some provisions of the bylaws were modified, but the overall framework was left intact.
The new bylaws that were proposed by the Board and adopted by vote of the membership in 2016 are designed to bring the governance of ACTC into line with actual practices. These practices have resulted in large faculty development initiatives, international outreach, a Liberal Arts Institute with its special projects, and wider publication opportunities for our members.
